Jivaan Bennett

Jivaan possesses strong commercial acumen and an indefatigable drive to create opportunities for the underrepresented. His entrepreneurial flair is demonstrated by his development of a Caribbean practice within Linklaters’ wider Latin American offering. To that end, he has built relationships and discovered commercial opportunities for Linklaters and Caribbean entrepreneurs. He lectures part-time at King’s College London (LLM, International Taxation) and the University of the West Indies.

His academic work on Caribbean taxation was recently cited with approval by the High Court of Belize. Recognising that minority ethnic trainees often face unique challenges yet most firms, post-recruitment, fail to adequately prepare this talent pool, Jivaan devised “Headstart”. Headstart is a programme for future trainees of minority ethnic background to prepare them for professional life. Through monthly sessions, Headstart seeks to combat imposter syndrome while creating a safe space for future joiners to network and develop their technical and soft skills.
