PwC (UK) – PwC Legal
Category: In-house Diversity and Inclusion Initiative of the Year winner
WINNER: PwC (UK) – PwC Legal
PwC’s ambition is to have a diverse workforce, with senior leaders reflecting the diversity seen throughout our firm and the societies in which we operate. Recognising that we needed to act earlier to support a sustainable pipeline of female talent, we expanded and evolved our former Women’s Leadership Programme (focused on directors) into our innovative Breakthrough programme.
Breakthrough is a bigger, bolder, more creative programme designed to focus on our senior manager population – combining leadership development and sponsorship with an organisational development approach to tackle systemic challenges. At its core, the premise is to change the system – not the women working within it.
Outcomes:
•71 participants since programme launch in 2014.
•Female Partners increased from 15% to 18%.
•28% new female Partner appointments in 2016.
PwC’s legal practice recognises it has a role in championing diversity within the sector. It actively supports firm-wide goals, through recruiting, developing, and promoting diverse talent. Examples include:
Success in the City – career building event led by the legal practice, experienced by 150 employees and clients.
5 females recently promoted from senior manager to director and 1 female promotion to Partner.
