Category: Outstanding Race & Ethnicity Employee Network

Freshfield’s global Black Affinity Network (BAN), established in 2015, has been a key contributor and collaborator in the design and delivery of the firms race and ethnicity strategy at Freshfields. The BAN is for employees of black African and black African-Caribbean heritage and over the past six years has grown to be a community of ~100 employees globally and ~70 employees in the UK.

BAN is committed to being a source of support, mentorship and fellowship for network members as well as a platform for engagement with the broader communities where the firm practices. BAN works closely with the firm’s senior leadership on issues of strategy, including around recruitment and the promotion of an inclusive culture. BAN has provided insights and feedback, built an extensive ally network, hosted multiple engagement events and collaborated with the D&I team, other affinity networks, colleagues and clients impactfully.
