Charlene Brown

Charlene is a lawyer at BNY Mellon, a global investments company dedicated to helping its clients manage and service their financial assets throughout the investment lifecycle. Charlene specialises in employment law and advises on all employment, labour, benefits and immigration matters to the Company operating in the EMEA region. Charlene founded the EMEA Legal Diversity and Inclusion Council in 2012 and remained as Chair for three years before assuming the role of Co-Chair of IMPACT, BNY Mellon’s EMEA Multicultural

Employee Resource Group. Under Charlene’s leadership as Co-Chair, IMPACT EMEA has grown by 94% to over 557 members in eight locations.Through this, she has provided workshops for the IMPACT leadership team such as “talking about race”, “managing difficult conversations in the diversity context” and “inclusive leadership”. Charlene also serves on the TNON steering committee and earlier this year was recognised as a Future Leader by EMpower and the Financial Times (ranked no.2). Charlene was also named the “Rising Star in Financial Services” at the 2016 Black British Business Awards and was a finalist for the Inspirational Role Model of the Year Award at the 2015 European Diversity Awards.
