BSN Lawyer of the Year

Millicent Grant is an exemplar of what CILEx stands for – enabling people from diverse backgrounds who wouldn’t otherwise be able to become lawyers to access to the legal profession. Millicent is the 54th President of CILEx and the organisations first black President.

CILEx has always served as the foundation that introduces people, especially those from diverse backgrounds, into the legal profession. Millicent has and continues to champion initiatives to support this aim and recently addressed the House of Lords on improving diversity within the judiciary.

Beyond CILEx, Millicent engages in voluntary work, driven by her desire to share the benefit of her skills and experience, as a way of “giving back to society; to encourage, support and inspire others”. A particular example is her longstanding involvement with Knights Youth Centre, South London, an independent youth working charity, of which she is also now Chair of its Board of Directors.
